In the year 2020, due to the Covid 19 outbreak, the organisers of the Kwacha Awards announced that they had put a pause on the Awards gala.
News reaching this website comfirms that, after two years, the only music awards ceremony in Zambia (Kwacha Awards) is back.
We thought, fans and entertainers would again celebrate the rebirth of these awards, but, basing on this year's nominations and categories, majority of the stakeholders have trashed the 2022 Kwacha awards nominations.
Zambian music fans have taken the lead in decampaigning the awards. This is because, they believe that, the organisers messed up with the categories.
I would like to know, what criteria and which system did the Kwacha Awards management use when nominating and categorizing musicians, asked Phiri Cosmas.
Critics have told ZambianMusic.net that, there are so many artists who were left out yet they truely deserved to be nominated since, they have really worked hard in the last two years.
Now that such criticism has fueled up, we are likely to see the Kwacha Awards varnish just like the ZMA did.
