President Starts Campaign To Host World Cup In Zambia

Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema

Sports minister Elvis Nkandu says President Hakainde Hichilema has expressed interest in Zambia’s will and ability to host the 35th edition of Africa’s Biggest football showpiece.


Zambia has joined the likes of Algeria , Burkina Faso and Morocco among countries bidding to host the biennial show piece.


Nkandu told ZambianMusic.net that the president has shown interest by giving his political will and is eager to see Zambia hosting AFCON under his reign.


He said the head of state has directed that it is by bidding to host such continental and regional that Zambia will expand it’s sport infrastructure catchment.


Nkandu said his ministry will now start facilitating the bidding plan with Various Organization and he want to see the dream come true.


He said as soon as the 2023 Ivory coast AFCON is done, government will start talks for the 2027 edition.


So far Zambia has 2 modern stadiums, which means will need an additional 4 stadiums for Zambia to qualify hosting the Tournament.
